According to Angop, in the competition – which took place in the country and ended this Sunday –, the national MMA team won 18 gold medals, 14 silver medals and seven bronze medals, making 39 medals in total.
In second place in the competition was the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), winning seven medals (two gold, three silver and two bronze). The podium is also made up of Namibia, taking third place after winning a gold medal and a silver medal.
Also noteworthy are Mauritius and Algeria, which took fourth and fifth place, respectively. According to Angop, Mauritius won two silver medals, while Algeria won a bronze medal.
Among the national athletes highlighted was Maurio Silva, who contributed with a gold medal (61.2 kilograms category), after having done so in the 2021 edition, in which the country became runner-up, having been behind the South Africa, writes Angop. It should be noted that the athlete needed three rounds to overcome his opponent from DRC, Cedrick Kelenga.
In addition to Angola, the event had the participation of DRC, Algeria, Mauritius and Namibia, which will be the next to organize the event.
