When the half-time whistle sounded, the 'Perólas' had a significant lead on the scoreboard. According to Angop, the first half of the game ended with the national team winning 22-9.
Angola even confirmed its advantage at the end of the game, beating the Algerian team 38-18.
Regarding the game, the national coach, Carlos Viver, was satisfied, considering that from now on the challenge will be greater. "I'm happy (...). The team is playing very well and that's the most important thing. The preparation was good and, since we arrived in Ghana, (...) players have one objective, which is the gold medal. We are going to have a lot of difficulties from now on in the semi-finals and final, but I believe these first three championship games were resolved very well by the team", he said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).
Angola advances to the semi-finals undefeated, having won all three group stage games. In addition to Algeria, the national team faced Burkina Faso, who they beat 47-13, and Ghana, who they beat 35-13.
Thus, the national team took the lead of the group, with six points, followed by Algeria, with four, Ghana, with two points, and, finally, Burkina Faso, with zero points.
Also this Monday, the teams from Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo also played from another group. Congo beat Cameroon by one point (25-24), also qualifying for the semi-finals.
