More than a hundred athletes leave for Ghana to represent Angola at the African Games

The Cidadela Desportiva was the stage for the official farewell ceremony of the Angolan delegation that will represent Angola at the XIII African Games in Accra, Ghana, from March 8 to 25. A total of 113 athletes - 55 men and 58 women - promise to fight for the competition's medals. In addition to the athletes, the delegation has 52 leaders, totaling 165 members.

The event was chaired by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, who emphasized the importance of sport as a vehicle for unity and national representation.

During the ceremony, the national flag was solemnly handed over to the athletes who will participate in the various modalities of the African Games.

The 13 sports in which Angola will be represented are Handball, Athletics, Cycling, Judo, Karate, Greek-Roman Wrestling, MMA, Swimming, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Field Tennis, Volleyball and Chess.

"Each athlete and leader will play a crucial role in the search for sporting success and in promoting Angola's image on the international stage", says the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

With the national flag in hand, the Angolan Delegation leaves for Accra, ready to face the challenges in each of the 13 sports, demonstrating the diversity and talent of Angolan sport.

The XIII African Games will be a stage to celebrate Angola's unity and athletic ability, guided by the competitive spirit and sporting passion, the ministry confidently states.
