Country registered 3690 cases of evasion of paternity during 2023

Last year, the country recorded a total of 3690 cases of evasion of paternity. The information was provided by Santa Ernesto, national director for Family Policies at the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women, who pointed out that the Government's concerns around this topic continue to exist, despite the numbers having dropped compared to 2022, the year in which 4935 cases were registered by the National Children's Institute (INAC).

According to the person responsible, in view of this situation, the Government has carried out some actions that are in line with the National Development Program 2023-2027 and the National Program for Social Action and Family Valorization, through the Jango de Valores and 'Minha Família, Minha Inspiração', whose programs, she added, aim to involve society in the search for approaches to draw attention to the role of the father in the family, urging responsible fatherhood, writes Angop.

Santa Ernesto also explained that the project 'Minha Família, Minha Inspiração', through the aspect of preparing young couples, concerns the implementation of lectures that aim to prepare young people for marriage.

According to the person in charge – who was speaking to Angop, on the occasion of Father's Day, which is celebrated this Tuesday, March 19, in the country –, based on these projects, the activities aim to raise awareness among families, using lectures, monthly, which address various topics, including parental responsibility.

Regarding this awareness, the data reveals that between 2021 and January this year, more than 41 thousand citizens, including 17,404 men, were sensitized about various issues, such as avoiding fatherhood, among others.

Regarding Father's Day, Deolinda Dorca Teca, secretary of the Council of Christian Churches (CICA) in Angola, considered it not only a day to celebrate, but also a day to reflect on the father's family responsibility, making for everyone to think about their role in society. "It is necessary to review the meaning of the father in the home, in the family and in society", she added, quoted by Angop.
