According to the ministry, the Angolan Network of Parents Pro-Mudança was created in 2010, on the occasion of the 13th Session of the National Council for the Family, and the campaign "Responsible Fatherhood, I Support" was launched in 2019 to encourage men to register their children.
"Despite all these efforts, we still observe a lack of interest on the part of some parents in assuming their responsibilities towards their children, translated into the cases of escape from paternity registered in 2021, in a total of 3,723 cases", reads the note. .
The "worst reports" of domestic violence, says the ministry, "mainly sexual abuse against minors, occur within families, whose aggressor is often close to the family and in others the parent".
The "15015 SOS Criança" hotline - managed by the Instituto Nacional da Criança (Inac) - recorded 7041 reports of violence against children in 2021.
The Angolan Government "has developed actions with a view to involving all the living forces of society in the search for strategies to pay attention to the father's role in the family, appealing to responsible paternity", the note says.
The ministry of tutelage, in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior, will hold on Friday, at the Higher Institute of Police Sciences, in Luanda, the central act of Father's Day, March 19, under the motto "United Fathers for Harmony and Family Cohesion".
Reflecting on the importance of the role that the father plays in shaping the personality of his children, through constant presence and responsible parenthood, and honoring zealous parents are some of the objectives of this initiative.
