Téte António, in brief statements to the press, said that the decision was conveyed in the meeting between Paul Kagame, who was in Luanda this Monday, and the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

According to Téte António, João Lourenço received Paul Kagame as an intermediary between the two heads of state, appointed by the African Union to take care of relations between DRCongo and Rwanda, including aspects related to the M23 rebel movement.

"During that meeting it was agreed that President Kagame accepts the principle of meeting with President Tshisekedi, on a date to be indicated by the mediator, and the Rwandan side also accepts the principle, which had already been agreed with the Congolese side, in sense of ministerial delegations working to reach this step", said the head of Angolan diplomacy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that the meeting was aimed at continuing efforts by the two heads of state to find peace and reconciliation in the region.

The Congolese President was in Luanda at the end of February, where he was received by his Angolan counterpart.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also announced at the time that Félix Tshisekedi accepted a meeting with Paul Kagame.

According to Téte António, Angola had the task of continuing efforts for the two heads of state to meet, to address the issue that affects the east of DRCongo, a country with which Angola shares a border of around 2500 kilometers.

Félix Tshisekedi and Paul Kagame met in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, in a mini-summit promoted and mediated by João Lourenço.

Eastern DRCongo has been facing military instability for several years that has caused thousands of deaths and thousands of refugees, with the Congolese government accusing Rwanda of supporting the M23 armed movement.
