The Namibian head of state learned how the infrastructure operates, as well as its relevance to the oil industry. Furthermore, it was also informed that 151 companies operate at Sonils' facilities, almost half of which (40 percent) are national, mobilizing more than 3000 employees per day.

On the occasion, Nangolo Mbumba considered that Angola has extensive experience in the oil sector and that the "know-how" of the company now visited should help both the national oil industry and that of other African countries, writes Angop.

José Barroso, Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, highlighted that Sonils has responded to the "technical and operational needs of its customers and partners".

The Secretary of State also considered that, "through the experience gained, Sonils can help to successfully replicate the Angolan logistics model" in other parts of the continent, such as Namibia.

José Barroso also recalled that, in 2022, Sonangol and the Namibian Namcor Namport signed an agreement that aims to establish a logistics base similar to Sonils on Namibian soil. "In 2022 we witnessed (...) a significant moment in the history of our nations marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Sonangol and Namcor Namport, with the aim of establishing an integrated logistics base in Namibia similar to that of Sonils", he said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

Ricardo D'Abreu, Minister of Transport, considered that Sonils is a "strategic terminal for the oil sector".

Ana Bela Marcos, general director of Sonils, also spoke on the occasion. The official, cited by Angop, considered that since 1995, the year Sonils was founded, the company has positioned itself as the main logistical support company for the oil and gas industry in the country, adding that the Namibian president's visit took place as part of a collaboration proposal between both countries.

This Tuesday was also marked by a meeting between the governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), Manuel Tiago Dias and his Namibian counterpart, Johannes Gawaxab.

The hearing, according to Angop, served for the two governors to talk about the cooperation between the two banks, within the scope of the operationalization of the Memorandum of Understanding initialed in February last year.

Nangolo Mbumba's visit to Angola took place between this Monday and Tuesday. It is recalled that on Monday, the head of state of Namibia held a meeting with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
