Netherlands wants to boost economic projects in the Lobito Corridor

The Netherlands has its eyes set on the Lobito Corridor and, Martine Van Hoogstraten, director of African Affairs in the Netherlands, said it is necessary for the focus to involve boosting economic projects in that corridor.

To this end, the person responsible reiterated the strengthening of collaboration with a focus on agricultural initiatives and the transfer of knowledge in order to consolidate projects with an entrepreneurial nature.

It is essential to establish concrete partnerships between the two countries, aiming to encourage sustainable and inclusive growth in the agricultural and industrial sectors, with a focus on enhancing new jobs, which contribute to helping youth, also considered Martine Van Hoogstraten, cited by Angop.

Speaking at a courtesy meeting with Angelino Elavoco, deputy governor for the political, social and economic sector of Huambo, held this Monday, the person in charge highlighted the fact that it is necessary to promote knowledge transfer projects, through the 'Orange Corner' and 'Agritech', as it will strengthen the entrepreneurship skills of youth, as well as diversify companies in that province, helping the economic development of the region.

According to Martine Van Hoogstraten, the collaboration gives priority above all to initiatives linked to the agricultural and industrial domain, in order to enable growth at a social and economic level, through the implementation of the Lobito Corridor Executive program, writes Angop.

On the occasion, the director for African Affairs of the Netherlands also informed that Luanda and Huambo will benefit, this year, from the 'Orange Corner' and 'Agritech' program, as part of open promotion and collaboration between Angola and her country.

Angelino Elavoco took advantage of the occasion to praise "the importance of the future Logistics Platform in the municipality of Caála, as being a spring that will boost the region's economy".

Quoted in a statement from the Provincial Government of Huambo, to which VerAngola had access, the person responsible pointed out that the aforementioned logistics platform, "allied to the Lobito Corridor will intensify the potential that the province of Huambo has, which is why the local executive shows satisfied with the existing relations between the two countries".

According to the provincial vice-governor, one of the Government's bets is the reindustrialization of the local park, which will allow the Lobito Corridor to be given "a sovereign opportunity to generate more jobs and boost the national economy".

On the occasion, he also highlighted that an "infrastructuring program for the Caála Industrial Development Pole is currently in the pipeline, which will consolidate the local strategic plan for the processing of agricultural products, implemented by peasant families", reads the note.

In turn, the ambassador of the Netherlands to Angola, Isjeard Hoekstra, highlighted the excellent relations of cooperation and friendship between both countries, also indicating the "need to focus on boosting and strengthening economic projects in the Lobito Corridor".

In addition to the Netherlands, deputy governor Angelino Elavoco also met, on Monday, with the Consul General of the Republic of Eritrea.
