MPLA presents agenda for 2023 and wants “deep performance analysis” of the party

The vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, presented Saturday the party's agenda for 2023, with ten strategic axes, underlining the need to carry out a "deep analysis" of the party's performance in the elections in order to adopt corrective measures.

:

Luísa Damião was speaking in Cuíto, capital of Bié province, where she presented the political agenda of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA).

The MPLA's political agenda for the current year envisages promoting quality governance, with emphasis on controlling the execution of public expenditure, in favor of development and benefits for the population, according to Angop.

In order to carry out the ten planned strategic axes, "it will be necessary to carry out an in-depth analysis of the balance made to the party's performance in the general elections, extracting the subjective lessons that will allow the adoption of corrective measures", he said, quoted by the Angop.

According to the leader, the MPLA proposes to “fight for a more developed, democratic and inclusive Angola, with a view to moralizing society, combating corruption and impunity”.

Other objectives are the strengthening of cooperation, concertation and solidarity relations with the political parties with which it has historical ties, deepening the space for dialogue, betting on public policy initiatives, which contribute to the continuous promotion of employability, housing, entrepreneurship , urban and rural mobility, education and health, among others.

The MPLA also proposes to “encourage and monitor the implementation of small-scale economic and social actions, but with a direct impact on improving the lives of the population.

The MPLA won the August 2022 general elections, with 51.07 percent of the votes, the worst result ever, and was defeated in the capital by its main opponent, UNITA (National Union for the Total Independence of Angola).
