São Paulo market will be rehabilitated and expanded

The São Paulo Market, one of the oldest in the capital, will be the subject of rehabilitation and expansion works. With the implementation of this project, the market will have 167 stores and a parking lot with capacity for 160 cars.

The market will temporarily close from next Friday, March 11th, for works that will last three months.

A Angolan provincial government official, speaking to TPA, considered that "the implementation of this project will generate many benefits" for the community that sells in that market.

"Today we have around 39 stores, when finished we will have 167 stores. The car park will have a capacity of around 160 vehicles", he said.

According to the official, there will be "an ordering of the market environment, including accessibility".

According to TPA, sellers are concerned about the works and fear that the market will be sold.

However, the provincial government rules out the possibility of sale: "The market, I repeat, is not and cannot be for sale. generations of these families selling in the São Paulo market. It is a very legendary and historic market for our entire province, there is no chance that this will happen".

Regarding the works, the official explained that conditions are being created in other markets to absorb sellers from São Paulo.
