According to the deputy municipal administrator of Cassinga, José Cahala, the incident took place on Wednesday night, when individuals, aged between 22 and 38, were carrying out excavations, reaching more than eight meters deep, to explore gold in an artisanal mine.
"The two seriously injured are from Cuvelai, Cunene province, and are receiving medical assistance in Cuvelai. The three bodies have already been removed and handed over to the families and were buried yesterday [Thursday]", said José Cahala, in statements to Angolan public radio.
