China's Niodior opens motorcycle factory in Luanda in an investment of 15 million dollars

The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes, inaugurated, last Saturday, March 12th, a factory dedicated to the production of motorcycles. The unit, located in the municipality of Viana, province of Luanda, is an initiative of the Chinese company Niodior - installed in Angola for 20 years - which injected 15 million dollars in the execution of the project.

Per year, the factory will produce more than 11,000 Keweseki motorcycles: "It will produce more than eleven thousand (three-wheel) motorcycles, per year", can be read in a note made available on Facebook by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The opening of the factory made it possible to create 50 jobs, but it is estimated that the number will increase as the factory evolves. "The factory initially employs 50 people, and this number should rise to 200, in the short term, with its progression", reveals the note.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the minister, quoted by Angop, referred that the production of motorcycles in the national territory will help to reduce imports of these means of transport.

According to the balance sheet of the Minister of Industry and Commerce, "from 2020 to 2021, the country imported 59,920 motorcycles, with US$31,544,955 being spent in this process".

The official also stressed that initiatives of this kind contribute positively to the promotion of the Rural Trade Development Program, especially with regard to the flow of small goods as well as the transport of other products.

Gong Tao, Chinese ambassador to Angola, also quoted by Angop, said that companies in his country will continue to cooperate for economic growth and the promotion of employment in Angola.

Thus, China encourages its businessmen to invest more in Angola, namely in the sectors of industry, agriculture, technology, fisheries, infrastructure and minerals with a view to ensuring sustainable growth and quality of life for Angolans.

Luís Cupenala, president of the Angola and China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, considered that initiatives of this kind reflect the good business environment that exists between Angola and China, adding that last year the trade balance between the two countries stood at 23,000 billion dollars.
