"The 500 million dollars Development Policy Operation (DPO), the third in a series of three, will continue to support the government in achieving more sustainable and inclusive growth through a conducive macro-financial and institutional environment to growth led by the private sector", reads the statement released this Tuesday, in which it is announced that 60 million dollars will be used to improve statistics.

"The DPO supports the Government of Angola in the pursuit of fundamental reforms that aim to build stronger foundations for economic diversification, job creation, resistance to climate and economic shocks and poverty reduction", the text adds.

On the other hand, the 60 million dollars Statistical Capacity Strengthening Project "aims to improve the country's statistical capacity, its ability to produce data efficiently and its use for monitoring public programs", says the World Bank.

"Although Angola's statistical capacity has increased in the last five years according to the World Bank's statistical performance indicators (SPI), its score is still below the average for Lower-Middle Income Countries (54.9 out of 100 in 2019 for Angola, compared to 56.7 for Low-Middle Income Countries), the project will have three main components: institutional reform and statistical capacity, data production and project management and monitoring and evaluation", reads the note.

"The approval of these two operations reaffirms the World Bank's commitment to supporting reforms in Angola, and to strengthening the country's institutions", commented the national director of the global institution in Angola, Jean-Christophe Carret, quoted in the statement.
