According to Daniel Vasgirn, French ambassador to Angola, quoted by Angop, the docking of the ship is part of the cooperation between the two navies in the scope of maritime security, piracy, pollution and training of Angolan naval officers.

The captain of the French ship's crew, made up of about 100 elements, made it known that until Thursday they will be carrying out some exercises on board. From that day onwards, the ship will leave the quay in Luanda for the instructions of the officers, he added.

Also quoted by Angop, the official also took the opportunity to mention that they want to develop capabilities with the Angolan navy with a view to having more exercises in the future that make it possible to protect the security of the Gulf of Guinea.

According to Angop, he also informed that illegal fishing activities were identified, involving Chinese vessels, while patrolling the Angolan coast.

Helping to improve the navigation and defense of the Angolan Navy, among others, is part of the mission of this ship, which while in Angolan territory will participate in exercises off the coast of Angola, Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo, writes Angop.

It should be noted that this is the second time in three years that the 'Commandant Birot' docks in Angola. The first took place in 2018, as part of the collaboration between the navies of both countries.

According to Angop, in the next three months the French ship will operate in the Gulf of Guinea, within the scope of the 'Corymbe 2022' mission, which aims to consolidate friendship ties as well as improve the capacity of the countries that are part of the security sea of the Gulf of Guinea.
