According to a statement published on the Ministry's website, the GIA "has already been operating for more than a year and will now move forward to the signing of contracts with national operators.

So far, two national operators have already signed a contract with GIA. The note reveals that these are the operators Angola Telecom and MSTelecom.

GIA "is a platform where local operators will be connected for international voice services. According to the communiqué, this platform will "consolidate the voice connection of telecommunication operators abroad and control the tax on international connections.

Its main objective, according to the minister, is to ensure the control and management of "international telecommunication traffic, avoiding frauds in telephone calls".

The minister, quoted in the communiqué, admitted that the GIA is a bet of the Executive to foster a "higher quality in communications."

"We had international communications without immigration, hence the creation of the Gateway to ensure anti-fraud in our market. It is a platform that brings benefits for the security of communications in Angola," he added.

This infrastructure is the result of a public-private initiative. Created in partnership with the Swiss company MGI, the project has an overall investment of 50 million dollars, the Government being the largest investor.

In his turn, Martin Keller, MGI's general director, considered that the implementation of this platform will bring "experience, funding and employment opportunities for young Angolans.

The infrastructure, which was visited this Wednesday by Manuel Homem, Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media (Minttics), is located in the neighborhood of CTT, in Luanda.
