Cleaning companies start this Tuesday to collect garbage in Luanda

Seven cleaning companies start this Tuesday the garbage collection in Luanda, after several months of accumulation of debris in the capital, following the termination of the contracts with the waste management operators in December.

According to a statement released by the Provincial Government of Luanda, among the 39 proposals submitted, seven companies were chosen to clean nine municipalities, divided by lots.

Elisal (Luanda Cleaning Company) will be responsible for cleaning in the municipalities of Luanda and Cazenga, Er-Sol, for Icolo and Bengo, Sambiente will be with the municipality of Quiçama and Viana, Multi-cleaning with Cacuaco, Jump Business com Belas, Chay Chay with Kilamba Kiaxi and the Dassala / Envirobac consortium with Talatona.

On 23 February, the expense and opening of the emergency contracting procedure was authorized, for the purchase of public cleaning services and collection of solid waste in the Province of Luanda, through a presidential order, and the Evaluation Commission for the following day was constituted. analyze the proposals.

Competitors acquired the pieces of the public tender between February 25th and March 2nd, 2021, with 69 companies bidding for tender pieces.

Between March 3 and 9, 2021, 39 companies submitted their technical and financial proposals.

The Evaluation Committee started the work of analyzing the proposals on March 13th and, five days later, started the preparation of the tender report for the award of public cleaning and solid waste collection services and concluded the work on the 28th March.

The signing of the contracts is scheduled for this Tuesday and the operators should start immediately to carry out the public cleaning and solid waste collection works in the Province of Luanda, adds the GPL.

The garbage heaped on the streets of the capital has caused displeasure among residents and fears about the spread of diseases, due to the risks to public health.

The Luanda government suspended contracts with garbage operators for failure to pay a debt that amounted, in November 2020, to 246 billion kwanzas.
