According to CSMJ spokesman, Pedro Chilicuesse, among the main challenges of this judicial year are "bringing the services of the courts closer to the citizens", that is, "implementing the district courts, a process that is already underway but that still needs to be concluded ".
This year, in principle, the implementation of the district courts will be completed, which are "being placed much closer to the locations where citizens live", underlined the official.
Pedro Chilicuesse stressed that many citizens have to travel long distances with high financial costs to access court services.
"Now the march is in the opposite direction, it is the courts that are going to meet the citizens, where they live, settle conflicts and build social peace," he added.
The county courts will replace the current provincial courts, with more than one in each province.
Luanda, for example, will have four district courts of which two are already in place, he pointed out.
The judicial system reform process foresees the replacement of the 18 provincial courts by 60 district courts, 22 of which have already been implemented (Luanda, headquarters, and Belas, Dande, Sumbe, Cazengo and Cambambe, Benguela, Lobito, Amboim, Cela, Cuíto, Andulo, Bailumbo, Huambo, Lubango, Caconda, Matala, Moçamedes, Tombwa, Cuanhama, Cabinda and Buco Zau).
The CSMJ spokesman acknowledged that there is still "some pending" procedural in the courts, a framework that is also intended to reverse, but that is dependent on the admission of more human resources at different levels.
