According to the spokesman for the Civil Protection and Fire Service of Cabinda, Patrick Capital, the incident occurred on Saturday morning, when the vessel that was sailing between Soyo, Zaire province, and Cabinda, ran aground, at the time when the sailors were proceeding to docking maneuvers for the unloading of goods.

Patrick Capital, in statements broadcasted by the Angolan public radio, said that several people went to sea to seize the goods, which consisted of foodstuffs.

"This ship was carrying some food goods and the people decided to swim to the ship in order to take some goods and these people ended up drowning," he explained, adding that the search is continuing along the coastline.

The body of the fourth victim, a young man who disappeared at the scene of the incident, was found Monday morning in the town of Fútila.

"It is assumed that there are still some people missing, we are doing the searches along the seashore," noted Patrick Capita.

An amateur video released by Televisão Pública de Angola shows a large number of people in the sea trying to collect the goods.
