"The batch of vaccines that Angola received is completely different. Before the immunization the usual consultations were made with the World Health Organization and we continue with the same security that we had since the beginning of the campaign", stressed Silvia Lutucuta, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

The fact that several members of the government have already been vaccinated is a sign of confidence in the vaccine, she said, admitting that there may be some side effects.

"There are cases in which adverse effects may arise after the vaccine, such as fever, irritation and fatigue, but so far we have not had cases that required hospitalization or intensive care intervention," said the Health Minister, who was speaking at the press conference to update the measures of the situation of public calamity, held this Thursday.

The minister's words come after it was reported that six countries in Europe had suspended the administration of this vaccine, after the appearance of cases of blood clots in vaccinated people.

The cases are related to a batch of about one million vaccines, which was distributed in six European countries, and which reportedly caused one death and 22 cases of thrombosis.

About the subject, Silvia Lutucuta said that this lot has already been suspended "while the vaccine is being evaluated".

As for the vaccination in the country, the minister indicated that on Wednesday a "record of 7500 people vaccinated" was broken. "We hope to have higher numbers in the coming days," added Silvia Lutucuta.
