The National Basketball Championship and the Angola Cup - both played by senior men - were suspended indefinitely, advances Angop.
This measure is in line with the Ministry of Health's prevention recommendations because of the new coronavirus pandemic.
The information was advanced by the director of events of the Angolan Basketball Federation, Tony Sofrimento, adding that the measure will be reviewed after the situation improves.
The competitions went on normally until now, and this weekend the fifth round of the fourth round of the national championship would be played.
The previous round ended last Tuesday with Petro de Luanda's victory over the biggest rival, 1º de Agosto. The partial was 99-94. Petro thus remained at the top of the competition, with 49 points, followed by D'Agosto's 'military' with 44.
Regarding the Angolan Cup dispute, the semi-finals should take place between 9th and 11th of April, opposing the Interclube to the 1st of August and Petro de Luanda to the Lusíadas.
Other federations have also decided to adopt these recommendations from the Ministry of Health, including Swimming, Chess, Motor Sports and Boxing.
Regarding football, although the games are not suspended, Girabola is now held behind closed doors.
