Covid-19 postpones major African competitions. Angolan athletes on stand-by

Despite not yet directly affecting Angola, the Covid-19 epidemic is making its mark all over the world, now threatening sports competitions.

Among the events postponed or canceled on the African continent and affecting our country is the postponement of the 3rd and 4th qualifying rounds for the African Nations Championship (CAN). The national team was preparing to face the Democratic Republic of Congo.

However, competitions around the world are being suspended. In Mozambique, the dispute for the first football league was interrupted. Portugal suspended the I and II professional football leagues and the major basketball league.

The NBA (USA), the Spanish, English, French and German football league and the round of 16 matches of the Champions League and Europa League are also on forced stop. Also the Australian Grand Prix in Formula 1.

Confirmed 'to the condition' are the Olympic Games, taking place in Tokyo, starting on July 24th.
