Cacuaco Administrator wants "tougher measures" for thousands who insist on taking to the streets

The administrator of Cacuaco announced this Tuesday that another 500,000 people continue to take to the streets in that locality in the north of Luanda, in "disobedience" to the state of emergency due to covid-19, advocating "tougher measures".

Jacob's aid, cited by the press, expressed concern over the crowd of thousands of people on the public highway and advocated "tougher" measures, such as the "use of regulated force" to change attitudes, because, he commented, "it is difficult to dialogue.

"In the urban hull of Cacuaco, in the area of the Sabadao market, the Kikolo market, the Retranca market in Mulenvos, we are having more than 500,000 people in the street every day, and we already feel that it is difficult to dialogue, so the state has to exercise its authority," he said.

According to him, local authorities have already made some arrests of people, taxis and motorbikes for offences, but, he stressed, "it gives the impression that there are other invisible guidelines that are pushing people onto the streets".

Angola has already recorded two deaths of people infected with the new coronavirus, responsible for covid-19 disease, in a total of seven positive cases.

On Monday, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, reported that among the hospitalized patients one is already being cured.

The country has been experiencing a state of emergency since Friday, which can be extended until 11 April, with a ban on people and vehicles on public roads and a specific timetable for the sale of food, among other measures.

However, in the various provinces there are reports of acts of disobedience, especially from citizens who insist on going out on the streets.

Defence and security forces are on the streets to comply with the measures described in the presidential decree on the state of emergency in Angola, which is on Tuesday the fifth day.
