The position was expressed by the vice president of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), Luísa Damião, at the opening of the National Meeting on the Social Sector, which runs until Thursday, in Luanda, with the aim of analyzing the implementation of social sector actions under the National Development Program 2018-2022.
Luísa Damião said that in the face of the challenge of promoting the welfare state, in which resources are scarce and needs are unlimited, "a parsimonious and rigorous management of the public purse is required, a close fight against bad practices, such as corruption, nepotism and impunity, against which the MPLA set out to correct and fight".
"Hence the needs of the reforms that have been introduced in different sectors of social and economic life to give Angolan citizens, regardless of their color, race, creed or political party affiliation, the possibility and the opportunity to enjoy quality services services at your disposal", said MPLA vice-president.
According to Luísa Damião, the MPLA argues that all economic and social policies should take into account the increase in the well-being of the people, who are the recipients of these.
The party also calls on the people to consciously participate "in the processes of social transformation, which guarantees autonomy, community integration and the social role of the most vulnerable groups, striving for the practical and active resolution of problems that concern the social sector".
The meeting's work agenda includes analyzes of the health, education, youth and sports sectors, social work and the promotion of women, housing, as well as the issue of school meals.
For Luísa Damião, "time is urgent" for the creation of objective conditions that lead to the resolution of social problems, that make present and future generations proud and happy.
