“It is useless to shout the fight against corruption like a flag when the same regime protects actors from theft and prevents the normal functioning of the institutions”, highlighted Adalberto da Costa Júnior, in Sumbe, province of Cuanza Sul.
The leader of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) stated that the parliamentary group insists on being an observer part in monitoring the processes in the fight against corruption and regretted that the conclusions of the Parliamentary Commissions of Inquiry (CPI), with “big names”, that had been sent before the fight against corruption became official.
According to the president of the “Galo Negro” party, this is concerned with “names and acts that violate the law and scandalous deviations from the purse”, with names of the authors, cases that occurred with the CPI to Banco Espírito Santo de Angola (BESA), Sonangol, the Sovereign Fund and public debt.
The UNITA leader also addressed the problem of “gratuitous violence against young people who speak out and against women”, pointing out the case of a 30-year-old girl who died a few days ago by a police officer in Bengo, calling for more respect citizens and their rights.
On Monday two young men died in a confrontation with the National Police, during a riot at a military recruitment center in Luanda.
Among the challenges that the country will face this year, Adalberto da Costa Júnior focused on State reform, namely the revision of the Constitution and the holding of municipal elections, accusing the government and the party that supports it, the MPLA (Popular Liberation Movement) Angola), to be “afraid of the autarchies” and prefer “to betray the will of Angolans”.
"We have to work to save Angola from hostage hands, using sovereign organs like the National Assembly and the courts, without the courage to go against the higher orders that persist", he asked his supporters.
