UNITA resumes its biannual parliamentary days at Sumbe this Wednesday

The National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) party is resuming its biannual parliamentary days in Sumbe to show the state of "abandonment" of the capital of Kwanza Sul.

:

The days begin with a courtesy visit by a delegation headed by the party president, Adalberto da Costa Júnior, to the provincial government, bishopric and Council of Christian Churches in Angola.

Adalberto da Costa Júnior will also make the opening speech of the days, which will focus on issues such as fighting poverty and corruption.

On Thursday, Members of Parliament will have field days that include visits to all the municipalities of Kwanza Sul.

On Friday, MEPs will focus on the advantages of local authorities and the impact of territorial gradualism on the harmonious development of the territory.

In the launching of the IX days, the president of the parliamentary group, Liberty Chiaka, stressed that the choice of the city of Sumbe was due not only to the rotation in the realization of this type of initiatives, but above all for noting that, "like many provinces, Kwanza Sul, particularly its capital, is voted out by the MPLA executive".

UNITA parliamentarians will verify in Sumbe "the degradation of the urban road network, whose rehabilitation works go hand in hand with chameleon" and will travel through the interior of Kwanza Sul to listen to the "wishes" of the citizens.

In the last five years, the meetings have been annual due to financial constraints created by the parliamentary administration, which "has not honoured the payments of subsidies" to each bench, accused the responsible on the same occasion.

Liberty Chiaka succeeded Adalberto da Costa Júnior as leader of the parliamentary benches of the largest Angolan opposition party when he took over the presidency of UNITA and thus made his debut in command of the days, which run from 11 to 13 March.

In 2020, UNITA decided to resume the biannual implementation of the initiative, with days in March and others in the second half.

The days will end with the political act alluding to the 54th anniversary of the founding of the "Galo Negro" party by Jonas Savimbi, which will be led by Adalberto da Costa Júnior.
