Minister of Health announces first two positive cases of Covid-19

This Saturday Sílvia Lutucuta announced the first two positive cases of coronavirus infection in the country. "The pandemic has already reached our country with confirmation since 2 am today," said the minister this Saturday at a press conference in Luanda, at the Ministry of Health.

These are two Angolan citizens, aged between 36 and 38 years old, residing in Luanda who returned to the country on the 17th and 18th of March, coming from Portugal.

"They are already being controlled in our health units", he informed.

He also said that the necessary health instructions are being given to mitigate the epidemic and called on the population, especially travelers arriving from countries with community circulation of the virus, to comply with the mandatory quarantine, which he considered "a fundamental priority"

He recalled that, in the last few days, travelers who came from Portugal - Lisbon and Porto - arrived in Angola, who were given the possibility to do quarantine at home, appealing to anyone who knows of someone who has recently traveled to the affected areas and is not fulfilling the isolation reports the situation to number 111.

"There will be no contemplations, these people will be taken to the institutional quarantine centers", he stressed, guaranteeing that the screening capacity of these patients will be increased.

Sílvia Lutucuta also recalled that there will be additional flights from Lisbon and Porto and said that the Government is preparing conditions to make institutional quarantine of passengers, guaranteeing that immediate conditions will be created.
