China invests five million to create "Angola's biggest shipyard"

Chinese will invest about five million dollars in the fisheries sector. The agreement, which will be concluded between Chinese partners and the Kwanza Sul Fisheries Society (Sopesul), aims to increase the construction of semi-industrial fishing boats.

The project aims to ensure that our country has enough equipment to bet on the fisheries sector. Thus, the number of fish at national level will increase, decreasing the number of imports.

António Vieira, responsible for Sopesul, in declarations to the Jornal de Angola, revealed that, at this moment, "conditions are being created to be the largest shipyard in Angola, with the construction of semi-industrial boats and to gradually respond to the great needs in this area".

He also revealed that the Ministry of Fisheries and the Sea is monitoring the project and that it will grant the necessary licensing so that the construction of the boats can proceed.

The wood for the boats will be supplied by the provinces of Cabinda, Zaire, Bengo and Kwanza Sul, he revealed, adding that the trawls, siege nets, GPS, cooling system and engine will be imported.

"There are no constraints on the purchase of material in the country and in China we have a supplier of electronic equipment for navigation and location of the shoal," he said.
