The defendants' lawyers and the pair of prosecutors in charge of the case return to the Supreme Court's Common Crimes Chamber for the final allegations of the case known as ‘500 Million’.
This will be a kind of 'last chance' for lawyers to reaffirm their clients' innocence. Taking into account all the testimonies of witnesses and deponents, it is then up to the panel of judges to decide. It is recalled that the four defendants are accused of the crimes of fraud for defrauding, money laundering and embezzlement.
Before these allegations, lawyers and prosecutors should have had the opportunity to review documents requested by the court from both the Ministry of Finance and the Swiss Credit Bank.
At issue in this case is an alleged transfer, in the amount of 500 million dollars, from the account of Banco Nacional de Angola domiciled at the Standard Chartered bank in London to the account of the company Perfectbit. This would be the guarantee for the constitution of a financing fund of 30 billion for the country, which did not happen.
