A communiqué from EMGFAA, to which the Lusa agency had access, said that around 7am, about 300 young people had gone to the recruitment and mobilization district (DRM) of the Military Region of Luanda, due to a "false news circulated that lists would be posted about the recruitment of young men for the Armed Forces".
According to the note, in the face of the denial of that information by those in charge of the unit, the group of young people tried to force their way into the DRM premises, "having even attacked with blunt objects and stoned the forces of order, which were called to the scene".
The security forces, in their reaction, "accidentally hit two young men, one of whom perished on the scene and the other who died on his way to a hospital," the communiqué adds.
"EMGFAA regrets the incident, sends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and informs them that instructions have been given to open an investigation in order to ascertain the real causes and responsibilities of the incident", the note states.
In the document, EMGFAA calls on young people not to be misled by false news, recalling that access to military units is subject to their own special security regime.
