The use of children to steal copper bars from power cabins with medium voltage lines is a new method applied by adults for this type of crime.
According to a spokesman for the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE), Pedro Pinto Bila, quoted by news agency Angop, the children were referred to the local police station after the residents frustrated the theft attempt.
ENDE's spokesman said the children were accompanied by an adult, who fled.
This type of equipment is valued at approximately one million dollars and could benefit over a thousand customers, ENDE's spokesman said.
