The Ministry of Education, in a statement to which VerAngola had access, clarifies that the implementation of the program will occur gradually in the country, and the forecast in terms of number of scholarships is to reach around 900 scholarships in the first cycle of high school and in the first and second year of EJA (Education for Young People and Adults).
"The scholarship program, which provides for the delivery of 35,000 kwanzas annually and an additional 35,000 kwanzas for girls upon enrollment, will be implemented gradually throughout the country, with the aim of reaching approximately 900 scholarships in the first cycle of secondary education and 1st and 2nd year of EJA as a way of increasing the retention and completion rate of girls and boys at this level of education", reads the note.
The ceremony marking the beginning of the expansion of the scholarship program took place in the province of Icolo and Bengo. "The Ministry of Education, within the scope of the Girls' Empowerment and Learning for All Project (PAT II), held this Monday, at school complex 5012, Calumbo municipality, Icolo e Bengo province, the opening ceremony of the first phase of expansion of the scholarship program (VAPAME)", points out the ministry.
The Minister of Education, Luísa Grilo, presided over the ceremony, which was witnessed by the governor of Icolo and Bengo, Auzilio Jacob, the World Bank representative, Natacha Falcão and members of the board of directors of the Ministry of Education.
