This measure, according to the Ministry of Tourism, emerges within the scope of initiatives to promote the tourism sector.
In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the ministry clarifies that the BNA updated the "rules that regulate the special regime for housing credit and the construction of residential properties", extending the purpose of Notice No. 9/2024 of December 20 to tourist developments and catering establishments and similar establishments.
"As part of the initiatives to promote the tourism sector, the National Bank of Angola (BNA) has updated the rules that regulate the special housing credit regime and the construction of residential properties, with the expansion of the scope of the aforementioned notice, which now covers tourist developments and catering establishments and similar establishments", reads the note.
Thus, the aforementioned notice "establishes the Special Credit Regime for the Construction of Housing Properties, Tourist Developments and Catering Establishments and Similar and allows operators in the tourism sector to have access to financing of up to 200 million kwanzas, with a reduced interest rate, that is, up to a maximum of 10 percent".
The Ministry also considers that this measure will provide a "stimulus to the construction and rehabilitation of small-scale tourist, restaurant and similar establishments and ventures, which, in turn, will contribute significantly to strengthening the sector, increasing the variety of services, as well as creating new jobs".
"The inclusion of the tourism sector in this financing mechanism represents a milestone for the development of tourism activity in Angola, opening up new opportunities to finance small and medium-sized operators," the document also points out.
