Founder of BON Hotels in Angola to evaluate investment in state-owned hotels

Guy Stehlik, founder of BON Hotels, an international hotel management chain, is in Angola to evaluate business opportunities in the tourism sector. The person in charge visited enterprises and met with José de Lima Massano and with agencies and institutes in the sector, having been impressed with the national hotel conditions.

This Thursday, the South African had the opportunity to visit state-owned hotel developments, saying he was positively impressed by the quality of the infrastructure. During the prospecting, the hotelier and manager of the Bon Hotels chain had the opportunity to evaluate conditions such as location, amenities and services.

The intention to invest in Angola was recorded during a meeting with INFOTUR, AIPEX and IGAPE. “I see a great opportunity here to invest in the training of Angolan staff, sharing our experience so that they can be future hotel managers,” he said, quoted by the Ministry of Tourism.

On the occasion, the businessman also highlighted the quality of national hotels, emphasizing that they can be compared to other reference hotels around the world. “The developments I visited today are in excellent condition, were very well built and have good services,” he declared.

During his stay in Luanda, Guy Stehlik was received in audience by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano and by the Minister of Tourism, Márcio Lopes Daniel.

“All they need is expertise,” Stehlik said, pledging his support to the government to boost the sector.

José de Lima Massano highlighted that, within the scope of the Privatization Program, the Government intends to place some hotel units on the market for privatization or management partnerships.

During the meeting, he also reinforced the need to create hotel schools to train qualified professionals in the sector, intending to count on the involvement of the private sector.
