Country prepares corporate security platform to promote good cybersecurity practices

The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, reported that the country is preparing to launch a business security platform, which aims to promote good cybersecurity practices in companies.

:

"The launch of a business security and threat management platform is under preparation and is at a very advanced stage, designed to certify and encourage the adoption of good cybersecurity practices in companies, regardless of their size", said the minister, during his speech this Friday, at the opening of the 2nd Internet Governance Forum in Angola.

The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication explained that this platform is the result of a study of more than two dozen international cybersecurity standards, without forgetting the reality of national companies.

"The emergence of this platform arises from an in-depth study of more than 20 international cybersecurity standards, but without losing sight of the needs and objective reality of our companies", he said.

"The result of this work will consist of a flexible classification system for companies, adaptable to the size and degree of digital maturity of each entity, ensuring that none are excluded due to lack of resources or knowledge", he added.

In his speech, Mário Oliveira explained that the certification will focus on "fundamental pillars", such as "access control and authentication, data encryption, and risk management".

According to the minister, the aim of joining the program, "through this application, which will be called SEGA – Business Security and Threat Management", is to "promote the transfer of knowledge about digital security in companies and organizations and the implementation of recommended international best practices".

Mário Oliveira added that, within the scope of the program, there are also plans to "award a digital reputation seal, issued by Infosi [National Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society], which will prove the company's commitment to online security".

"This recognition will certainly bring competitive benefits, such as access to support programs and financial benefits, since it will demonstrate the responsibility and solidity of the company or institution in the digital sphere", he pointed out.

He also considered that SEGA will promote "a culture of cybersecurity that, in an organic and systematic way, will strengthen the country's digital economy, boosting socioeconomic development through safer and more reliable transactions".

"By raising the level of protection of our companies, we will place ourselves in a prominent position in the region, demonstrating the ability to adapt to technological demands without neglecting the specificities of our business sector", he stated.

Organized by Infosi, the 2nd Internet Governance Forum in Angola is under the motto "For a Safe, Inclusive and Sustainable Internet", bringing together experts, professionals, government representatives, academics and members of civil society to address policies and practices regarding digital governance in the country.

"Digital Massification and Inclusion as a Factor of Economic and Social Development"; "The Challenges of Transfer, Sustainability and Trust in Artificial Intelligence", among others, are some of the topics to be discussed at this event.
