According to a statement from the Angolan Embassy in South Africa, to which VerAngola had access, Rui Orlando Xavier received a team from the Volkswagen Group Africa representation on Monday, whose meeting served for the team to "learn about the possibility of expanding its investment by opening a vehicle assembly line".
"The group intends to use the information gathered to meet the needs of new customers in the Angolan market, providing quality cars at competitive prices", the note reads.
The statement also states that, after "consolidating its reputation in South Africa, Volkswagen wants to expand its business to other markets and Angola is one of its priorities".
The Volkswagen Group Africa delegation was made up of the Manager of Strategy and Corporate Policy and New Business Development, Pierre Cedric Senghor, and the person responsible for Strategy and Business, Nthabiseng Komane.
"Founded in 1946, Volkswagen Group South Africa is a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Aktiengessellschaft (VWAG) in Germany," the note further states.
