Angola reports 124 new cases of cholera and three more deaths

Angola has registered, in the last 24 hours, 124 new cases of cholera and three deaths, totaling 153 since the beginning of the outbreak, last January, the Ministry of Health announced this Tuesday.

The deaths were recorded in the provinces of Bengo, Luanda and Malanje, with 98 people discharged and 161 hospitalized with cholera during this period.

According to the ministry's epidemiological bulletin, of the 124 new cases, 45 were recorded in the province of Luanda, 53 in the province of Bengo, 16 in the province of Icolo and Bengo and one in the province of Malanje.

Since the beginning of the outbreak, a cumulative total of 4359 cases have been reported, of which 2088 were in Luanda province, 1678 in Bengo province, 528 in Icolo e Bengo province, 29 in Cuanza Sul province, 15 in Malanje province, seven in Huambo province, six in Huíla province, five in Zaire province, two in Cuanza Norte province and one in Cunene province, with people aged between 2 and 100 years old.

The age group most affected is 2 to 5 years old with 670 cases and 23 deaths, followed by the age group 10 to 14 years old with 551 cases and ten deaths.
