According to the Ministry of Health's Information Bulletin (relating to the cholera outbreak situation on February 17), among the 128 new cases, 68 were registered in Luanda province, 39 in Bengo, 19 in Icolo and Bengo and two in Cuanza Sul.
In the same period, there were three deaths: two in Luanda and one in the province of Icolo and Bengo.
In cumulative terms, since the beginning of the outbreak, the country has registered a total of 4235 cases, with Luanda being the most affected province (2034 cases), followed by Bengo (1625 cases), Icolo and Bengo (512 cases), Cuanza Sul (29 cases), Malanje (14 cases), Huambo (seven cases), Huíla (six cases), Zaire (five cases), Cuanza Norte (two cases) and Cunene (one case).
There have also been, since the beginning of the cholera outbreak, a total of 150 deaths, 66 in Bengo, 61 in Luanda, 19 in Icolo and Bengo, two in Cuanza Sul and two in Malanje.
It is also worth noting that the most affected age group is two to five years old (648 cases and 23 deaths).
Also in the period in question, according to Angop, a total of 123 patients were discharged, with 169 people remaining hospitalized.
The outbreak began on January 7 this year, with the country beginning a cholera vaccination campaign on February 3.
