According to the Secretary of State, the maternity hospital will undergo rehabilitation, expansion and equipment.

Quoted in a statement from the Ministry of Health, to which VerAngola had access, Leonardo Europeu Inocêncio explained that the "greatest concern is the working conditions and infrastructure and said that the works will begin as soon as the study of the ongoing project is completed".

Rehabilitation will be carried out in phases. "Leonardo Europeu Inocêncio guaranteed that the rehabilitation will be carried out in phases without interruption of services in different areas such as outpatient consultations, operating rooms, blood therapy, accommodation for women in labor, laboratory, laundry, among others", reads the note.

The official also took the opportunity to recall that the intensive care area was "recently rehabilitated on the initiative of the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço", through the Ngana Zenza project.

The Secretary of State visited the maternity ward, where he learned that the unit performs an average of 70 births per day and 35 cesarean sections.

During his work journey, the Secretary of State was accompanied by the Provincial Director of Health of Luanda, Manuel Varela, and by the Director of the Study, Planning and Statistics Office of the Ministry of Health, Pedro Gabriel.
