According to the decision, known this Monday, the harshest sentence was applied to the defendant who allegedly fired the shot that killed the businessman. This is Barnabé Ilustra 'Bad Ilustre', who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for homicide, criminal association and qualified robbery, writes Angop.

The other two defendants convicted were João Chava 'Pitra' and Wilson António, who received sentences of 28 and 25 years in prison, for the same crimes, respectively.

In addition to the prison sentences, the three defendants were also sentenced to pay compensation in the amount of three million kwanzas to the victim's family, as well as 37 million kwanzas to the company Sotam Comercial, an amount that disappeared after the robbery.

Justino Chacamba and Julsónia Vieira Cardoso 'Sonia', the other two accused, were acquitted due to lack of evidence in the case.

According to the sentence, cited by Angop, the authorship of the crime of homicide of which they were being accused by the Public Ministry was proven in court.

The case dates back to February last year, when the 37-year-old businessman was shot dead in the industrial zone of Lubango, after resisting a robbery. The victim was on his way to a bank to make a deposit of 37 million kwanzas.
