The decision comes as part of the monitoring and follow-up of the progression of erosion processes by the provincial governments, which resulted in the identification of a total of ten ravines in a critical situation.
The rapid progression of the ravines, aggravated by constant rain and the geological conditions of the soil, puts national roads, housing centres and other infrastructures at risk.
To mitigate these situations, emergency contracting of public works and inspection services was authorized, using the Road and Emergency Works Fund (FROE).
In the province of Cabinda, the containment and stabilization of the Lombe II ravine, located in the Amílcar Cabral neighborhood, will be carried out. The works are valued at more than 642 million kwanzas, and inspection costs are estimated at more than 22 million kwanzas.
Also in Cabinda, the ravine in Simulambuco will be contained and stabilized, with an investment of over 227 million kwanzas. The inspection of this project is budgeted at over 11 million kwanzas.
In the province of Cuanza Sul, the work includes the stabilization of ravine 1, located next to the Armando Fandamo Ndembo Auditorium, with a cost of over 238 million kwanzas, and an inspection estimated at over 14 million kwanzas. The ravine in the Berlier neighborhood, near the primary school, will also be stabilized, with an investment of 134 million kwanzas and an inspection estimated at over eight million kwanzas.
For the province of Icolo e Bengo, the containment and stabilisation of the ravine in the southern area of the Zango 8000 Centrality is planned, with a budget of almost five billion kwanzas, while the inspection services will cost more than 149 million kwanzas. In addition, the Zango IV-A market will also be the target of an intervention valued at more than 444 million kwanzas, with inspection services estimated at 13 million kwanzas.
In Luanda, the Bairro Honga II ravine will be stabilised at a cost of more than 2.2 billion kwanzas. Inspection services are over 102 million kwanzas.
Another intervention includes the containment and stabilisation of ravines on Avenida 21 de Janeiro, in the country's capital, and on EN 100, in the Barra do Kwanza area, in Icolo and Bengo, with a budget of over 536 million kwanzas and inspections of almost 24 million kwanzas.
In the province of Zaire, the stabilisation of the Yingola ravine, in the seat of the municipality of MBanza Kongo, will be carried out, with an overall cost of over 320 million kwanzas and an inspection estimated at over 16 million kwanzas.
The Minister of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing has been delegated the power to approve, validate, conclude and sign contracts.
The Ministry of Finance is responsible for guaranteeing the financial resources necessary for the execution of the contracts. In addition, the Presidential Order authorises the inclusion of the projects in the OGE/PIP.
