In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the Government informs that it will begin work to widen and requalify the access roads to the aforementioned airport, which are "in a state of severe degradation, with macro and micro drainage problems, and network failures medium voltage electrical outlets, which has hampered the circulation of vehicles".
Thus, the works will begin with the rehabilitation and widening of National Road 120, in the section between Mbanza Congo and Km 40, "over a length of 40 kilometers".
For this undertaking, the Government will disburse more than 45 billion kwanzas.
"The works on the aforementioned stretch are valued at more than 45 billion kwanzas, while inspection services will cost approximately 678 million kwanzas, according to Presidential Order No. 277/24, of November 19", reads if in the statement.
The government justifies this measure with the fact that it wants to provide Mbanza Congo with "better infrastructure for tourism and mobility, benefiting the movement of people and road traffic".
For this undertaking, the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing was delegated the competence, with the capacity to sub-delegate, to "approve the parts of the procedure, verify the validity and legality of the acts carried out within this scope, and proceed with the celebration and signature of the contracts", while the Ministry of Finance will guarantee the necessary financial resources to carry out the work.
In addition to this expense, in another presidential order, expenditure was also authorized to rehabilitate the Mbanza Congo/Cuimba/Buela section, also in the province of Zaire.
According to another government statement, to which VerAngola had access, the aforementioned stretch, covering a length of 84 kilometers, will benefit from "rehabilitation works to improve road circulation and the quality of life of the populations of these locations".
The Executive informs that this road is in a "state of profound degradation and in some parts the pavement structure is non-existent", causing insecurity for its users, as well as "an increase in travel time between the municipality of Mbanza Congo, in the province of Zaire, municipalities of Cuimba and Maquela do Zombo, in the province of Uíge, and the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo".
According to Presidential Order No. 278/24 of November 19, this work will cost around 85 billion kwanzas.
The order also approves the contracting of the inspection service worth more than one billion kwanzas, as well as "formalizes the opening of the simplified contracting procedure for the execution of the works".
"The President of the Republic grants the Minister of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing the competence, with the power to sub-delegate, to approve the parts of the procedure and verify the validity and legality of all acts carried out within the scope of the said procedure for the celebration of the corresponding contracts, including signature", says the note, which adds that the Ministry of Finance is responsible for ensuring "the availability of the financial resources necessary for the implementation of the contracts".
