According to Félix Domingos, the heavy rains that fell on Saturday in the municipality of Lobito, province of Benguela, caused the collapse of a residence that killed three members of a family and others were swept away by the currents of water.

"This weekend was quite worrying taking into account the number of victims and also the number of incidents, we continued to observe rain across the country, in some provinces moderate rains and in others quite intense", said the spokesperson of the SNPCB in statements to Lusa.

Over the weekend, firefighters recorded a total of 71 incidents, which resulted in 94 victims, namely 34 deaths and 62 injuries, as a result of drownings, road accidents and lightning strikes.

Félix Domingos highlighted, among the incidents, the six victims of the rains, noting that in the provinces of Cuanza Sul, Uíge and Bengo the rains were accompanied by strong winds with trees falling.

In Benguela, firefighters were also called to extinguish a fire that broke out in a warehouse, in the municipality of Lobito, with damage estimated at almost 50 million kwanzas.
