One of the demands presented is precisely related to the national minimum wage, where they are already "well advanced in this work", said Teresa Dias, who also highlighted the involvement of trade unions in the study aimed at improving the country's minimum wage.

"We are well advanced in this work. Contrary to what proposals are sometimes put to us, the trade unions have participated in the study for the evolution of the national minimum wage", said the government official, quoted by Angop.

The holder of the Public Administration, Labor and Social Security portfolio, explained that the country's minimum wage technical team has come up with proposals regarding "what the increase should be".

"From this technical group on the national minimum wage, proposals come regarding what the increase or impact of the basic basket should be, because it is calculated based on the basic basket and other factors, namely the demand and supply of products in certain areas", she stated, explaining that prices in rural areas vary from those in cities and, therefore, "everything is calculated" in the sense of being able to have a "calculation formula" for the aforementioned salary.

Furthermore, Teresa Dias – in statements this Thursday, at the end of a seminar on the new general labor law, which should come into force at the end of March – also explained that it is not possible to "fix" the minimum wage of country "without paying attention" to the business class.

"We cannot set the national minimum wage without taking into account the business group, micro, medium and large companies. If we accept that, from today onwards, the minimum wage is 300 thousand kwanzas, for example, we have to have the ability to pay our domestic employees. This is not just a government issue", considered the government official who, quoted by Angop, also said there was a need to listen to social partners and business groups in order to prevent the national economy from "burst".

Remember that the unions announced, last Friday, a general strike in the public sector for March.
