The four new conventions signed this Wednesday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning, in Luanda, between the EU and the Angolan Government, inaugurate four new cooperation programs in the areas of blue economy, justice, solid waste management and societal empowerment civil.

"I am proud of the robust and mutually trusting partnership between Angola and the European Union and I look forward to seeing our joint work produce tangible results," said the European Union's Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen.

The EU Commissioner, who signed the conventions together with the Minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, highlighted the importance of the instruments, noting that, in the field of the blue economy, the program should leverage Angolan potential and improve the fisheries value chain.

In relation to the convention on solid waste management and circular economy, this "aims to improve services and promote the creation of decent jobs, as well as the development of the private and business sector".

"On justice, this must reinforce the primacy of law, supporting the justice system, the fight against organized crime and improving cybersecurity and, finally, the strengthening of civil society, its participation and organization, as key protagonists of a society peaceful and resilient", assured Jutta Urpilainen.

Minister Vítor Hugo Guilherme considered, in turn, that the four new cooperation programs symbolize the "fruitful relationship" with the European Union, which has been "hand in hand" with Angola in the search for mutually advantageous solutions.

According to the government official, the four agreements are visibly in line with the National Development Plan (PDN) 2023-2027 and reveal the Government's unquestionable commitment to these matters.

The signing of these agreements "constitutes another step towards a prosperous and diversified economy, a resilient and sustainable ecosystem as well as a fair nation with equal opportunities, prioritizing justice and human rights", he said.

"The proposed actions must contribute to strengthening the two priority development pillars, namely the development of human capital and food security", concluded the Minister of Planning.

For the agreement on the blue economy, 30 million euros are reserved, on justice, 25 million euros, civil society training, 10 million euros, and on solid waste management and circular economy, 25 million euros.
