Furthermore, the official said that they intend to build a factory to refine the salt, in order to "add value" to production and, thus, export "at higher costs".
"We also want to build a salt refining factory to add value to what we produce, to be able to export at higher costs and guarantee the company's sustainability", he said, quoted by Angop.
The enterprise with 280 hectares, of which only 120 are in use, has a production capacity valued, on average, at 4200 tons of salt per month and currently employs more than 400 people (320 direct employees and 125 in collaboration), however, Sebastião Custódio made it known that they intend to reach 1000 jobs by the end of the year.
Regarding the project's activity, the person responsible explained that they are using clay in the conventional phase and, later, tarpaulins in the retention basins. Quoted by Angop, he explained that the use of "tarpaulins allows the production process to go faster, but it is more complicated because it requires a lot of maintenance due to the replacement of equipment".
According to the person responsible, the implementation of the project, which is located in the municipality of Baía Farta, in Benguela, started two years ago and during this period several difficulties have been encountered.
Sebastião Custódio also made it known that the company invested in a technical-professional training room and another for literacy, aiming to increase the level of technical knowledge of employees.
The initiative counted on two billion kwanzas, financed by the Banco Angola de Desenvolvimento, having, according to the person responsible, started with half of that amount, and is expected to increase little by little, writes Angop.
