Taag's crew members deny management and say they manifest “it is a right”

This Tuesday, TAAG crew members denounced “failures” to the agreement signed with the airline’s management, guaranteeing that they privileged dialogue and only took to the streets “in the face of the silence” of the company, stressing that the demonstration “is a constitutional right” .

:

After the airline's management released a statement last weekend accusing the Provincial Union of Cabin Navigators (Sinpropcn) of "disloyal behavior" and "distortion of data", following a protest held on Saturday, now Sinpropcn's "indignant" response to the "set of untruths", whose objective is "to tarnish the good name of the Union".

Sinpropcn, in a press release sent to Lusa, states that after the "successive violations" of the collective bargaining agreement signed in November 2022 with the TAAG administration, it expressed discontent, seeing a "deafening silence" on the part of the managers.

The Union claims to have sent emails and letters to the administration and guardianship "privileging dialogue as resolution mechanisms", reporting "hijacking and non-compliance with the agreement and memorandum of understanding signed between the parties".

At issue are lack of payment and control of daily allowances, minimal rest, dissatisfaction with the new transport collection methodology, lack of conditions at the airport, etc.

Sinprocn states, in the statement, that after announcing its intention to "take to the streets in a peaceful and orderly manner", on January 24, 2023, it was summoned to a meeting, where proposals were presented to resolve the payment of daily allowances which, however, were not implemented.

In addition, it "categorically denies" that they signed a commitment to maintain social peace with TAAG during which they would not conduct strikes or demonstrations.

"A memorandum of understanding was signed between the parties, however it does not prohibit the class from demonstrating", underline the unionists, pointing out that the right to demonstrate is enshrined in the Angolan Constitution.

They also accuse the administration of merely meeting with the Union in the face of this type of pressure and say that the Union leadership will "continue to fight for the interests of the class".

On the other hand, they say that TAAG has not issued uniforms for more than eight years, these being paid for at the expense of the crew.

Another of the points of contention is the "renting of foreign aircraft despite maintenance that is never completed", which is "inadmissible" for Sinpropcn, which wants "the return of our aircraft" or resort to Angolan crew.
