The highest distinction in national football, which took place for the second consecutive year, was awarded during the "Claque Magazine Awards" gala.
In the 2021/2022 season, Alexandre Santos returned the title of Angolan champion to Petro de Luanda, 12 years later, and also led 'the oil workers' to reach the unprecedented semi-finals of the African Champions League in football.
At the gala that also distinguished and paid homage to sports commentators and managers, the Portuguese central defender Pedro Pinto, from Petro de Luanda, was also awarded.
The Brazilian striker, also from Petro de Luanda, Tiago Azulão, won the award for best player of the season, after overcoming competition from colleagues Kinito and Soares, both Petro de Luanda defenders.
Tiago Azulão was Girabola's top scorer, with 21 goals, and was the second best scorer in the African Football Champions League, with four goals.
