Resumption of railway connection between the provinces of Luanda, Cuanza Norte and Malanje

The railway connection between the provinces of Luanda, Cuanza Norte and Malanje, interrupted a week ago due to the derailment of a fuel train on the Luanda Railways, has now been resumed, the company announced this Friday.

In a note to the media, the CFL mention that after technical tests, the existence of conditions to resume circulation was confirmed.

On the 9th of this month, the total derailment of a composition of the fuel train, consisting of 14 tank wagons, which transported 818 tons of diesel to Malanje, resulted in the tipping of eight tank wagons and the damage of about 150 meters of the railway line. which connects the capital to the provinces of Cuanza Norte and Malanje.

For Monday, the circulation of the gas transport train is scheduled, for Wednesday the circulation of the general cargo train and Friday the circulation of the passenger train to Ndalatando and Malanje, departing from Muceques station, in Luanda. , at 06:00 in the morning.

"The resumption of circulation will be carried out in accordance with strictly established regulatory precautions, while complementary work is still taking place at the accident site", the note says.

The company informs that the causes of the accident continue to be investigated by specialists, both from the National Institute of Railways of Luanda, so they appeal "not to jump to hasty conclusions, since the reading of the data, provided by the black box of the locomotive, will provide more accurate information".
