Regarding the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 35th ordinary session of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, Ethiopian Airlines CEO informed that "trafficking from Africa to Africa and to the world" was discussed.

The official, quoted by the Public Television of Angola (TPA), informed that 80 percent of the air movement in Africa is carried out by companies that are not African, a scenario that the Ethiopian company wants to change: "Only 20 percent [of the movement on the African continent] is reserved for African airlines. I spoke to the Minister about how African airlines can work together towards the common goal".

"For example, TAAG and Ethiopian Airlines can integrate the region to transport goods, people and services within the continent so that the cost of transport is cheaper, both in transporting goods and other goods and thus raising free trade. Therefore, all the capital is on the soil of the continent", he said, adding that with this type of cooperation it is possible to transport passengers, cargo, tourists, leaving TAAG and Ethiopian Airlines strengthened.

Téte António, also quoted by TPA, considered that "Ethiopian Airlines has developed a lot of capacity in other parts of the continent" and that this cooperation with the "West African sub-region is making the same sub-region also develop their capabilities".

"Today, the trend needs to be reversed, 80 percent of trafficking is exploited by foreign companies, only 20 percent are exploited by Africans. (...) According to Ethiopian Airlines, it is exactly this trend that it would like to reverse, to be 20 for abroad and 80 for the mainland", he indicated.
