Portuguese ambassador in Angola highlights “winning bet” on professional training

The Portuguese ambassador to Angola, Pedro Pessoa and Costa, highlighted the Government's “winning bet” on professional training, encouraging the involvement of Portuguese companies in the field of training.

:

"The meeting we had today reveals a winning bet from the Angolan Government, a bet on training, qualification and Angolan talent, as well as the European Union" in a sector that is both "a challenge" and a topic "extremely important for the present and the future "of Angola, stressed the diplomat.

Pedro Pessoa e Costa was speaking to journalists in Luanda after a review meeting of the activities of the RETFOP program (Revitalization of Technical Education and Professional Training in Angola) with members of the executive and the European Union ambassador to the country, Jeannette Seppen.

Camões - Institute for Cooperation and Language is responsible for managing, alongside its French counterpart Expertise France, RETFOP, a project financed by the European Union, with a global allocation of 22 million euros that aims to contribute to the reduction of unemployment , especially among young people, by providing more skilled and employable human capital.

The program also reflects, he continued, the importance that Portugal attaches to the strengthening of cooperation with Angola and the formation of an "increasingly younger" population.

The ambassador also highlighted the relationship between the technical and pedagogical component and the involvement of the private sector in training.

The diplomat considered that "the Portuguese companies present in this market may also be useful in order to create a generation of trainers and RETFOP graduates", reiterating that education and the training of human resources are "a safe bet".

"We have several Portuguese companies that are present here and that do a lot of this, training and technology transfer. It is a different way for the Portuguese to do business in the countries," commented Pedro Pessoa and Costa.

"I am sure that, in what we have to do, we will always be able to cooperate so that these young people can have their professional career with companies from all over the world", he said, expressing himself convinced that the Portuguese companies present in Angola "will surely be available for accept "these young people.
